Reformer Pilates

Peak Reformer Studio is based in the heart of New Mills in Derbyshire. Located in a local beauty spot at the historic Torr Vale Mill. Peak Reformer Studio was founded by Sarah after her own lengthy injury rehabilitation where the STOTT method and the Reformer played a key role in recovery. Peak Reformer Studio very organically grew from there and we are passionate about helping you feel better, stronger and healthier whatever your goal may be.

The Reformer

At Peak Reformer studio we’ll guide you through how the Reformer works in our intro sessions but here a little more.

Reformer Pilates is becoming increasingly popular but its actually almost 100 years old! The Pilates method was invented by Joseph Pilates himself along with the first Reformer bed in the 1920’s to rehabilitate injured soldiers.

The Reformer is a bed like piece of equipment with a moving carriage in which varying tensioned springs can be added to either assist or resist in over 500+ different adaptable exercises. Ropes and straps are attached to the carriage for the arms, hands, legs or feet to be placed into. The result is a highly versatile piece of equipment and a highly effective form of exercise – exercises can be carried out in, prone, supine, sitting, kneeling, standing and everything in between.
